An ancient breed, the Shiba Inu has had years and years and years to cultivate an innate sense of dignity. A Golden Retriever will flop after a favorite tennis ball, a mass of shag and spit. A Pug will bark at the sound of a plastic bag rustling in the breeze. And we won’t even get into the lows a Labrador will gladly acquiesce to (especially in pursuit of anything edible — not excluding cat poop). Though dainty, the Shiba takes its looks from the mighty Akita, and was bred to hunt small prey.
Such duties are not required of the modern Shiba, which has allowed him to further entertain sophisticated pursuits. Such as fashion. Enter Menswear Dog.
Meanswear Dog is a young Shiba Inu who calls the city of New York his home. Where else would a stylish stud like this dog live? Not much else is known about him — he just suddenly appeared on the Internet sporting coordinates that would make a young man cry.
A Levi’s denim jacket is a staple basic.
A J. Crew henley says, “This is high class comfort.”
Try to incorporate a couple high-quality vintage pieces into your wardrobe.
A good, chunky cardigan is also a basic staple.
With only a few images available, Menswear Dog is surrounded in a certain air of mystery. But to keep the party going, we decided to dig up some more stylish Shiba Inus to join him — like this fellow. A hound wearing — what else? — houndstooth is always good.
The dog makes the bow tie look good.
Every Shiba Inu is royal and regal — princess hat or not.
Wait, this is not dignified, you’re not supposed to see this! Moving on …
Even when begging, the Shiba Inu possesses an air of quiet dignity. “Wouldn’t you like to share that sandwich with me?”
Look at this photo. Don’t you feel calm and quiet and dignified?
