Packaging & Presentation

The K9 Sport Sack comes very well packaged. Everything about the delivery process was seamless. An individual bag has several labels made of graphically pleasing product information. The presentation seems to be very important to the company, making quality tags and brand-friendly packaging.

The product has various tags on it, letting you know the product’s name and all applicable information. The top has a label attached by plastic fastenings displaying the name, image, and suitable canine weight.

Overall, we think the visual aspect is very aesthetically pleasing, and we had an excellent first impression.

Fit & Wear

Of all the factors to consider when choosing a backpack for your dog, the way it fits is one of the most important aspects. After all, your pup should fit snugly and securely inside—and it should feel comfortable on your body, too.

Overall, we found the fit and wear to be decent but not astonishing. Even at our pup’s most relaxed state, he fit in a little lopsided. Granted, every canine is structurally and behaviorally different, but this is what we found.

Putting Your Dog Inside

All we can say about your dog is that we hope they cooperate easier than our model. For a dog who is uncertain or unfamiliar with the process—the more they struggle, the harder it is to put the bag on. The bag unzips down the middle where you are supposed to fit the dog inside.

Getting them inside could easily be a two-person job. It is incredibly easy for them to back out or squirm around, leaving you back at square one. It wouldn’t be easy to stick an unruly dog into a backpack of any kind, but we found this a bit difficult.

Once we could fit our dog inside securely, it took some time to adjust it as well. You have to be incredibly fast unless your dog is ultra-calm and just letting you place them into the backpack as needed.

Backpack Fit

Once you have your dog safely secured and strapped, you can place the backpack onto your shoulders. It fits like a traditional backpack, and there isn’t a very generous amount of padding on the shoulder portions.

There is a strap that goes around the front to secure the design to your body. This strap prevents slipping, so you can keep your dog stationary on the trail.

Storage Pockets

There are two storage pockets on each side of the pack. These are big enough for a water bottle or similar-sized items. There are no compartments with a zipper, so there is no storage to put keys or other valuables.

Breathability & Durability

You won’t want your dog to be overwhelmed inside of the backpack, feeling smothered or unable to breathe. Also, the buckles and straps should make your dog feel snug as a bug in a rug.

Mesh Sides

There are two parts on each side of the backpack made of breathable mesh material. Since the gear has quite heavy material, these sides help create airflow, cooling your dog down over extended wear.

Cordura Fabric

K9 Sport Sack uses a signature Cordura fabric. We absolutely love it. It is incredibly well-made and seems like it will withstand heavy use and frequent washing.

Straps & Buckles

This design is made of nylon straps and plastic buckles. They work incredibly well, and all of them are well-stitched to the base fabric.

Adjustable Points & Safety

We loved all of the adjustable points on this product. It allows you to secure your pup inside snugly, but it doesn’t obstruct the neck. Since we had a Pug, no neck pressure is paramount when you put them in a design that fits this area.

Pugs are part of the brachycephalic dog breed category, and it’s very crucial to avoid putting pressure on their neck and chest. We were very pleased with the comfortable—but secure—neck portion of the Sport Sack.

Product Difficulties

If you have an uncooperative pooch as we did, you’re going to struggle to get them inside—there is really no way around it. Also, if your dog doesn’t fully relax inside of the sack, they will be lopsided and unevenly distributed inside.

If they aren’t even, it can cause more pressure on your shoulders. Also, if the design isn’t completely secure, they can loosen the top by squirming around.

Of course, this is really just based on the pup, and not the product itself. However, we most recommend this backpack for seasoned tow-alongs.

Also, all of the weight lays on the shoulders rather than your whole middle. The front strap attaches around the chest, which might be uncomfortable for women, particularly.

FAQ

Is there a warranty for the K9 Sport Sack Air 2?

The K9 Sport Sack Air 2 is covered by the Ruff & Tuff Guarantee. This guarantee protects your purchase against manufacturer defects for up to 60 days. This warranty does not cover clearance or sale items.

How durable is the K9 Sport Sack Air 2?

We think that the K9 Sport Sack Air 2 is incredibly durable. It’s well-stitched with strong fabric, including the breathable mesh portions. The buckles snap tightly and the nylon straps adjust securely, too.

How is quality compared to the price of the K9 Sport Sack Air 2?

Even though the K9 Sport Sack is a little pricey, we do believe this product is quality. It is a well-stitched, supreme fabric that will keep your dog safe on outings.

What types of outings are ideal for the K9 Sport Sack Air 2?

We recommend the Air 2 for moderate outings. If your dog spends extended trips outside in this sack, we recommend taking a leash to let them stretch their legs.

Even though there are breathable mesh portions on the side, your body heat is a real thing. Combine that with blazing temperatures, and your dog might just overheat. Be mindful and time intervals inside the sack.

Do you have to get your dog used to being inside of a backpack?

Your dog’s comfort is one of the biggest certainties you should have when you use the K9 Sport Sack. You might need to get your pup used to it before any outings to reduce risk of stress.

What the Users Say

We really dug deep to see how other customers feel about the K9 Sport Sack products. After all, the key to knowing about a product’s overall functionality is to check customer satisfaction from real-life users.

Many owners who have dogs with mobility issues found this sack to be very valuable. Their dogs seem to respond well, happy to be part of the action again. If your dog has any health issues that prevent extended walks, this is a real lifesaver.

Also, if you’re hiking, biking, or outdoor adventuring, this sack keeps your dog in safely. Lots of happy customers seem to love the adjustment points, durable buckles, and strong zippers.

Some people found the straps uncomfortable after a little while, putting strain on the shoulders. So, if you’re a person with shoulder or back issues, you might want to consider these concerns. Many customers report imbalance also, so it could put extra strain on one side of your body.

Ultimately, most owners loved this product. There is no denying it is well-made—and customizable to boot.

Conclusion

To round things up, we love the ultra-hard-wearing fabric, comfortable neck area, and multiple adjustment points. Once you weasel your dog inside, they stay quite nicely, if they are mannerly.

However, we personally found the dog to fit slightly crooked, which put pressure on the back and shoulders. If your dog was as frisky as ours, it might be hard coaxing them inside.

Ultimately, we think the K9 Sport Sack Air 2 would work for most small to medium-sized canines. Read the sizing chart carefully to ensure a perfect fit.
