Paraben and Cruelty-Free

Using a hemp-based product is an excellent start for your dog, but all those benefits would be lost if this product was tested on animals or full of harmful parabens.

While many big-name brands do this, Hempz stuck with high-quality ingredients and didn’t cut any corners during the testing process. What you’re left with is a high-quality product that you can feel good about using on your pup.

Several Options Available

Whether your dog is a shed monster or an odor-creating fiend, Hempz has the perfect dog shampoo for you. It has a deodorizing option, a de-shedding option, one for dogs with sensitive skin, one for dogs that need extra skin hydration, and even a puppy-specific option.

While we wish that they combined a few of these capabilities into a single product, the fact that you can prioritize precisely what you need the most is great.

FAQ

Many people have questions about Hempz products, and that’s why we took the time to answer a few of them for you here.

Why Should You Use a Hemp Shampoo for Your Dog?

There are quite a few benefits of hemp shampoo for your dog. It helps hydrate their skin and improves the health of their coat. There are also other benefits that you can’t get from other types of dog shampoos. These include reducing skin irritation, soothing itchy skin, and even reducing any swelling or inflammation that they might be dealing with!

Are There More Scents Available?

Unfortunately, Hempz only has one full-time scent available at this time. It does offer limited-time scents, and it will likely introduce more scents in the future.

How Often Should You Bathe Your Dog?

Since there are so many factors that go into how often your dog needs a bath, it can be challenging to give an exact recommendation for your dog. The AKC recommends that some breeds have a bath every 4 to 6 weeks, but even that estimate can vary quite a bit.

Short-haired breeds tend to need fewer baths, as do less-active dogs. Just keep an eye on your dog’s odor, overall griminess level, and if they have any parasites.

When Should You Stop Using Puppy Shampoo?

Generally speaking, it’s fine to use an adult dog shampoo once your pup reaches 12 weeks of age. If you happen to have leftover puppy shampoo, you can still use it on older dogs, it just might not be as effective as you want it to be.

What the Users Say

You don’t just need to take our word for everything that Hempz dog shampoo does well. We’ve scoured countless reviews and taken away the key points and highlighted them for you here.

Users love the citrus orange and red raspberry scent, but more importantly, they love the soft and silky coat that it leaves on their pup. It doesn’t seem to matter if your dog has a short or long coat, it works equally well on both kinds of breeds.

It seems to be an excellent choice for dogs with sensitive skin, but there are a few dogs that have had an adverse reaction to it. We always recommend using a small amount of product first to see how your pup will react.

Summary

If your dog needs an upgrade in the shampoo department, it’s hard to top what Hempz has to offer — as long as you don’t mind the citrus and raspberry scent. Hempz dog shampoo does a great job of soothing skin and reducing inflammation and irritation, though, so it’s an outstanding choice for most dogs!
