The Front of the Pack Food Recipe

We chose the organic, cage-free chicken flavor for our 13-month-old pit bull Jinx, since he’s obsessed with chicken.

A bag of Front of the Pack Dog Food costs roughly double what pet food kibble costs. You get an individualized price based on your dog’s profile. Different dogs need different amounts of food, so you’ll have to customize your dog’s profile to find out what their individual diet costs.

    What Is Air-Dried Dog Food?

Air-dried dog food is made by slowly removing the water content from fresh ingredients through a process of dehydration. This leaves all the nutrients and flavor intact, while making the food more shelf-stable and easier to store. Plus, many dogs seem to prefer the taste and texture of air-dried food over traditional kibble or canned food.

What Are the Benefits of Feeding Air-Dried Food?

Air drying definitely has its benefits:

    Nutrition

First of all, it is more nutrient-dense than traditional kibble or canned food. Air-drying retains more nutrients than other methods of processing, such as canning or kibble production.

    Taste

It is a gentle process that preserves the flavor and aroma of the ingredients, making it more palatable for dogs.

    Size and Weight

Air-dried food is lightweight and easy to store, which makes it convenient for travel.

    Shelf-Life

It has a long shelf life and does not require refrigeration.

    Health Benefits

Feeding air-dried food can help improve your dog’s skin and coat health, as well as their digestion. Feeding a healthy diet overall can prevent disease and dental problems, as well as extend the life of healthy dogs.

    FAQ

Is Air-Dried Food as Nutritious as Raw Food?

Air-dried food is not the same as raw food, as it has been through a process of dehydration. Nothing will ever be a perfect match to Mother Nature. However, it is still highly nutritious and packed with all the essential vitamins and minerals that your dog needs. In fact, some people believe that air-dried food is even more digestible than raw food, as the dehydration process breaks down some of the tough fibers and make it easier for your dog’s body to absorb the nutrients.

How Do I Feed My Dog Air-Dried Food?

Feeding your dog air-dried food is easy! Just add a scoop of food to their bowl, same as with regular kibble. There’s no special preparation.

How Do I Store Air-Dried Food?

Unlike raw food, which needs to be kept frozen, air-dried food can be stored at room temperature. Just make sure to keep it in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight. We also recommend using a sealed container or bag to keep the food fresh.

How to Transition My Dog to Air-Dried Food?

The best way to transition your dog to air-dried food is to slowly mix it in with their regular food. Start by adding a small amount of air-dried food and gradually increase the amount each day, until they are eating only air-dried food. This process usually takes about a week.

How Much Air-Dried Food Should I Feed My Dog?

The amount of air-dried food you should feed your dog will depend on their size, age, and activity level. We recommend starting with the amount suggested on the package and then adjusting as needed.

My Front of the Pack Experience

I’m a big fan of Front of the Pack Dog Food. I fed my dogs three full bags of food over the course of six weeks, and I was able to notice differences in their health in as soon as two weeks’ time. Here are some of the things I loved, and some of the things I didn’t love.

dog in front of the Front of the Pack dog food packaging

    No Gross Raw Food

The thing I love most about this food is that it’s not gross. Hear me out. I have fed my dogs a raw, whole-foods diet before and dealing with meat and produce is not only time consuming, but it also involves preparing and storing raw ingredients.

    No More Waste

More times than I could count, my produce or meat would expire before I was able to use it all. I can’t tell you how many bags of veggies spent their last days rotting in my crisper drawer. I found the whole experience so unpleasant that I eventually stopped doing it and switched back to commercial kibble.

    Easy to Feed and Store

This food is clean and smells the same as kibble. No drippings. Nothing molding or rotting. And obviously, aside from helping me avoid raw food, it helps save me time since you just grab and pour. It’s kind of a game changer for people who don’t have the time or energy to prepare a raw diet for their pets.

    High-Quality Ingredients

In addition, I love that the ingredients are all high quality and nutritious, and I love that there are no fillers or artificial flavors. My dogs have never been healthier, and they always seem to be excited when I bring them a bowl of Front of the Pack Dog Food.

    We Didn’t Love

There are a few things that weren’t super ideal about using this product.

    Switching Time

For one, you need to get your dogs used to this food slowly by mixing it with their old food. If you mix it too fast, your dog might have stomach troubles. We started out with a half and half mix of new and old food, and it made our 13-month-old Pitbull, Jinx, very gassy. We eventually had to go to a mixture with more kibble and less air-dried food just so we could get some sleep. To be fair, this will happen to any dog that goes from eating an average diet to a super healthy one.

    Cost

There’s no other way to say it: this food is pricey. You’re getting a better quality of food for your pet than most people feed themselves. We’re talking all organic, vet-developed superfood nutrition. That costs more than cheap dog food made with lots of grain fillers and animal by products. You get what you pay for, and this is the best, so it’s not going to be cheap. It costs easily double than a bag of pet store food the same size. That is a small price to pay for less illness and disease, plus a pup that lives longer thanks to a healthy diet, but that’s just my opinion.

Top 3 Benefits of Front of the Pack Dog Food

Here are the three biggest benefits we saw while using Front of the Pack dog food.

    1. Taste

Our dogs love it. Even our cat loved it.

Our cat Karll Kittenface was obsessed. He got the bag down from the pantry shelf so many times that we had to start storing it in a drawer. When we fed the dogs, we always tossed him a piece as a treat. He ate it every time! Our other cat couldn’t be bothered, but that’s his standard response to most things.

    2. Coat Health

The first thing I noticed, just a week or so after starting this diet, that my Pitbull’s coat was so soft and shiny. It was a little bit of a stiff coat, and kind of dull. Now my boy is so shiny, he looks beautiful in the sunlight.

    3. Waste

A cool side effect of this food I wasn’t expecting is that it made my dog’s waste smaller and much less stinky! It wasn’t a huge difference in size but noticeable. The smell difference was fantastic. I thought I was doomed to have a stinky boy.

    Our Overall Rating

We give Front of the Pack Dog Food a rating of 4.7/5 stars. We love that it is made with high-quality ingredients, does not contain any fillers, and takes the work and mess out of a raw food diet. It’s a little too pricey for my budget, so my vet recommended using it as a topper, and the Front of the Pack website even confirms that it can be used as a nutritious snack! We also didn’t like that it’s not widely available, but their shipping team promises they’ll always get your pet’s food to you on time. However, that’s not ideal if you don’t like subscription services.

    Final Verdict

Front of the Pack Dog Food is a high-quality, nutritious dog food that contains no fillers or artificial flavors. We highly recommend it for dogs of all ages and sizes. The ingredients are all healthy and beneficial for your pet, and you can find coupons online to help offset the cost. Our rating is 4.7/5 stars.
