Dogster_Dachshund Names

At long last, you’re ready to bring home your baby Dachshund! This long-anticipated venture has probably brought you both angst and anticipation. While you’re likely excited about everything that comes with dog ownership, possibly the most fantastic part of owning a new pup is picking their name.

Sometimes you have a name picked out before you ever see your pup. Other times, you have to get a strong feel for their personality before you know what you like. We rounded up several wiener dog names that we think fit tons of characters and looks. Let’s see if any of them catch your attention.

How to Name Your Dachshund

So, how exactly do you pick a name anyway? Well, sometimes, it just comes to you with no effort. Other times, it is a bit more challenging. Here are some methods of picking the perfect name.

Personality

One of the best ways to find a name for your baby wiener dog is to look at their personality. When you see pictures online or in person, it can sometimes be really hard to decide what to name them. Based on looks alone, names can get a little bit complicated.

Unless you already had one that you were sure of before even starting your search, you might want to get to know them first. Specific names fit certain kinds of energies. Some names can be spunky and vibrant, fitting a very energetic girl or a boy Dachshund.

Other wiener dog names can match soft, mild temperaments or naught, ornery ones. It really just depends on how they act. Also, certain letters carry more soothing sounds or more sharp sounds than others. Try to match their personality to the sounds of the alphabet.

Origin

Dachshunds are from Germany. If you want a valid name for their lineage, there are plenty of German names for your baby wiener dogs. Giving them a traditional German name can seem fitting considering it’s authentic.

Preference

Sometimes specific names just click, and there isn’t always a rhyme or reason for it. Maybe you’ve liked the name for as long as you can remember and can’t wait to get a wiener dog puppy to use it on. It doesn’t always have to make sense, and it doesn’t always have to be a traditional name either.

You can use nouns, brand names, and all sorts of other options for weenie dog names. Heck, you could even make up your own name, for that matter. When it comes down to it, you’re the one who’s going to have to use the name regularly. So, it should be something that you absolutely love.
