We know we always joke about dogs being trained to fetch you a beer from the fridge, but what if your pup could not only get you your brew, but crack a cold one open next to you on the couch?
That’s almost a reality with Bowser Beer, America’s first “beer” for dogs.
All right, it’s not really beer in the sense that we’re familiar with. After all, what’s 21 in dog years? Three? That seems too young! The novelty beverage created by Jenny Brown is actually a flat mixture made of meat broth and barley, with a bit of vitamins and glucosamine to improve joint health. Of course, it contains no alcohol.
Bowser Beer comes in flavors like Beefy Brown Ale and Cock-A-Doodle Brew. And if you’re feeling fancy, you can request a custom brew with a photo of your dog on the label. Some of the customer creations include names like “I Don’t Give a Shih-Tzu Brew” and “Liquored-up Lacey’s Pooch Hooch.”
Jenny got the idea when she was making peanut-butter-and-molasses-covered pretzels for pooches and selling them at fairs. She figured that just like their human companions, dogs might enjoy a cold one to go with their snacks.
Sure, why not? Summer is here, and we bet Fido would like to get in on the backyard BBQ action!
