Famous Border Terriers

Though this amazing breed is recognized by the major dog organizations, Border Terriers often play lovable “mutts” on the big screen. You’ve likely seen them in movies like “There’s Something About Mary” (Puffy, played by Slammer), “Return to Oz” (Toto, played by Tansy), and “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” (Baxter, played by Quincy). There’s also a Border Terrier named Poppins in the TV show “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”

Famous Border Terrier owners include Andy Murray, Clay Aiken, Elton John, and Eva Green. Steve Dean, the chair of the British Kennel Club, owns an impressive 12 Border Terriers!

Owney, the famous Post Office dog who traveled the world on mail wagons, trains, and ships, may have been a Border Terrier, though it’s more likely that he was a mixed breed.
