Rescue Organizations P.O. Box 1421 Harrisburg, PA 17105-1421 Castaway Critters grew out of the need to find adoptive homes for the ever-increasing number of unwanted cats and dogs. Castaway Critters is comprised entirely of volunteers that assist in the rescue and placement of abandoned dogs and cats in Central PA. Castaway Critters rehabilitates those stray animals coming through our doors who have suffered serious injuries and/or illnesses through professional medical care by our veterinarians). Additionally, much of Castaway's efforts is directed at educating the public about pets, behavior issues, and the importance of spay/neuter.
Castaway Critters programs include foster and adoption programs, medical care program for animals who need rehabilitation prior to adoption, and a helpline for the public to call with their pet related issues. We advocate for nonlethal control of the pet population, including aggressive trap-neuter-return (TNR) programs, via handouts and information available on our website, and a telephone helpline. We also operate Operation CatNIP, a spay/neuter program targeting pet cats of the low income and feral cats. We also offer spay/neuter for cats to the public as well.
