Dr. Hess is owner of Veterinary Center For Birds & Exotics- the first and only all birds/exotics animal hospital in Westchester county and surrounding areas in NY and Connecticut. We care exclusively for birds and other exotic species. Dr. Hess specializes in birds and other exotic pets including rabbits, ferrets, reptiles (snakes, lizards, turtles, tortoises), guinea pigs, small rodents (rats, mice, degus, hamsters, gerbils), sugar gliders, chinchillas, hedgehogs, prairie dogs, kinkajous, wallabys, and fennec foxes. She does not treat dogs and cats.
She not only treats sick exotic pets, but also advises exotic pet owners about preventative care/wellness medicine, including proper diets, environment, and behavior.
Dr. Hess is the most experienced residency-trained exotic animal vet and board-certified avian specialist in Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess, and Orange Counties. She is incoming President of the international Association of Avian Veterinarians.
She is available by phone 24 hours a day through Fine Animal Hospital for emergencies.There is also veterinary care available overnight at Fine Animal Hospital and through Dr. Hess' affiliation with a local large Westchester emergency clinic, the Veterinary Emergency Group in White Plains.

The Animal Endocrine Clinic is comprised on 3 subdivisions:
1) an outpatient endocrinology clinic for dogs and cats;
2) Hypurrcat, a radioiodine treatment center for cats with hyperthyroidism; and
3) Nuclear Imaging for Animals, in which radioisotopes are used for thyroid, liver, kidney or bone imaging (scanning).
