Within the last twenty-six years, Adopt-A-Dog, headquartered in Greenwich, CT, has evolved into a unique not-for-profit rescue and adoption service dedicated to finding good, permanent homes for many wonderful dogs and cats that are waiting to be adopted either in shelters or private homes. If a dog is in need of medical attention, spaying or neutering, grooming, or training before adoption, Adopt-A-Dog assumes the expense when possible. Each year, hundreds of dogs and cats are placed with new owners.
Our full-service kennel facility, located in Armonk, New York, which allows temporary shelter for both homeless dogs and cats until a good home is found, is open seven days a week. The kennel comfortably houses around fifty-five dogs. The cat refuge area accommodates twenty to thirty cats.
Adopt-A-Dog’s mission, for over 25 years, has been “Coming To The Rescue.” We continue to embrace this goal of rescuing abandoned, deserving animals as our top priority. Rescue, by definition, is as follows: “To free from danger, harm or confinement. To DELIVER, REDEEM, RECLAIM and SAVE”. That is what we do at Adopt-A-Dog.
We are not content to simply physically rescue dogs and cats from abuse, neglect and rejection. Without exception we will provide the best living environment possible, giving them a haven of peace and safety. Adopt-A-Dog is their foster home as they await their permanent home. We will provide excellent medical care, play, socialization, training, and, most importantly, love. Our toughest challenge is not to heal our dogs and cats physically, but to heal them emotionally, so that they can trust again and become active, loving members of new and appreciative families. Then, and only then, can we keep our promise to protect and provide as we arrange for them a loving home…a forever home.
We are the voice of our animals and, as such, are morally and ethically obligated to speak for them. We believe this is a noble responsibility. We pledge to serve as ambassadors for them with the sole purpose of assuring their well-being.
