American Maltese Association Rescue is an all volunteer, non-profit organization. In 1995 the American Maltese Association, the National AKC recognized parent breed club for Maltese, started a National Rescue Program for Maltese. Rescue volunteers that support our breed consist of both members and non-members who share a love for Maltese and a commitment to ensure unwanted, homeless Maltese find warm, loving forever homes.
Our rescue representatives provide adoption services for Maltese being surrendered by their owners, either privately or through shelters. Approved foster homes are utilized to care for abused, sickly, and homeless Maltese until such time as an adoptive family is approved.
AMA Rescue also provides support and information to Maltese owners dealing with behavioral and health concerns as well as education to the public on breed characteristics.
