why would my maltese go completely blind over night?

My 5 yr old maltese literally went completely blind over night
. We have took her to the vet. And they couldn't figure out why and told me to go see a specialist. But I can't afford it. does anyone have any insight.

What kind of tests did they do? Diabetes? Glaucoma? Did she have a seizure? It's really hard to tell without more information. She may have been going blind over time and you didn't notice. Some dogs hide ailments very well.
