Who says she's too old to have puppies??? If she is still cycling in and out of heat, she is capable of conceiving. IF she has been around an intact male then she is likely pregnant, if not, she may be having a false pregnancy.
A nine year old pit bull is not too old to have puppies, however, she IS too old to be intentionally bred. There are many health risks associated with pregnancy, especially in older dogs.

Actually, a dog's heat cycle goes on it's entire life (so I've read), meaning that it is capable of breeding into old age. (Doesn't mean it's a good idea, though.)
