why is the roof of my dogs mouth black

everything is black in the dogs mouth besides the tounge

It's just the color of the pigment there. It's completely normal.

Some say that a dog with a black mouth is more intelligent than other dogs, but that's an old wive's tale.

Like Cookie said, merely the coloring, like having a black/blue tongue. My dog has a spotted tongue and also the roof of his mouth is partially black.
Also, having black mouths/tongues doesn't mean that a dog is part Chow, there are more than a dozen breeds that can have black tongues.

Dieta

Just pigmentation.
All dogs are different.
I have one with a spotted tummy, one with white skin tummy and one with black skin tummy. Cute aren't they. Post a pic. of your dog:)

It means they are full breed if the roof of the mouth is black.
