Why is my dog accepting of strangers/kids at the park, but not inside any house?

I have a rescue mix that is 2 years old (we adopted her at 2 months old). She's not really exposed to children as I don't have any. When we're at the dog park (she has been going every weekend since she was 6 months old), she's really welcoming of strangers and is very gentle with children - almost timid. But at home is a different story - she barks very ferociously at any stranger and it seems to be worse with children. I should mention it's not just my house - but any house she's visiting. Is this just the "protecting her territory" behavior?

I would guess she's just being protective. Try having people give her yummy treats in the homes. Good Luck!
