Why does my bulldog get foamy mouth drool around other dogs?
My 5 year old english bulldog Sophie gets white foamy drool from the mouth when she is around other dogs. She does not even have to be exerting herself - she gets foamy just standing there "sniffing" hello. She is on allergy pills, so could this be something else? She does not spend a lot of time with other dogs and she is pretty passive, so could it be a nervous stomach? Something else? Please advise! Thanks!

I think that most Bulldogs are like that, aren't they?
I think that they do that when they're excited. However, when concerned about your dog's health, ask the vet.

This happens to Max all the time too! Usually he starts foaming after eating or when meeting another dog..I don't think there's anything wrong with it though! =]

This is more than likely just caused by excitement.
When dogs get excited, even if they seem calm on the outside, their salivary glands start working overtime.
Due to the unique physicality of the bulldog's snout and mouth, it may be that you are simply seeing more of this on the outside than you normally would with a dog with a longer snout and less visible lips.
I wouldn't worry unless you suspect other symptoms like excessive tiredness or itching, which would indicate maybe her allergies or medication side effects. Definitely talk to your vet if you're really concerned. After all, its worth it if only to make you feel more comfortable about her health. But, it certainly sounds normal.
