Why dont you check with your local SHOW breeder who might have a retired show dog they are trying to find a good home for. That takes care of the older part but really a husky never calms down much when they get older.

One of the best sources for dogs with a predictable personality is the rescue dogs. These are dogs that lost their home, but were taken into a foster home to be retrained as necessary and placed in the right home for them. You may find a rescue near you starting at www.akc.org The rescues charge a fee to help cover their expenses, but is much less than the price of a puppy plus all its medical expenses the first year.

Try www.petfinders.com too.

There are fine, calm Huskies out there. They are occasionally used as dog guides.

Have you checked Petfinder? Our shelter has a beautiful adult female right now.
In my experience - 20 years of Huskies, my adults were calm, loving, fun loving and needed a lot of exercise.

Oh! I wish I'd seen your posting earlier, because I know a gorgeous, calm, sweet Husky whose family separated and moved to two different states a couple of months ago. She ended up in a shelter, and I don't know what happened to her...

Thank you for looking to adopt an older dog. There are so many homeless pets out there. I hope you found a good, calm, sweet companion.
