My shepherds like to be toweled off after coming in from the rain. I kinda drape the towel over them then rub them dry. That's the closest I've ever come to dressing my dogs, So I can't answer your question. But I'd rather see a little dog wearing a snazzy coat than a very sad dog in a shelter.

I'm Sage. I vote for clothing optional. I only wore a collar, unless my mom gave me a bath, then I slid out of the collar and ran. Finally she got some money and started taking me to a professional groomer. I still hate water, but they were really nice to me there. Oh--there's one thing: every time they groomed me, they tied a little bow on my back near my tail. My mom thought I was so pretty all cleaned up with my bow. I thought so too. Who says a dog has to be humble? I was the prettiest one. My mom said so, and she was usually right.

I dress up my Australian Terrier with personalized pet ID tags, custom collars and bandanas. And I have also printed dogs t shirt for myyself from Three Dogz LLC.
