What is the best antibiotic for dogs? Is there any additional medication required along antibiotic?

Different antibiotics are designed to work against different bacteria or groups of bacteria. Depending on the problem, different types of antibiotics will work better than others.

Discuss the situation with your vet and they will be able to provide you with the appropriate antibiotic for your situation.

As for additional things when on antibiotics, remember that antibiotics are designed to kill bacteria. Some bacteria are important for us and dogs to be healthy. Antibiotics don't differentiate between the good bacteria and the bad, so the good can be depleated when on antibiotics. Taking a prebiotic or probiotic supplement during or after a course of antibiotics can help replenish the good gut bacteria that may have been killed off during treatment.
