What is my dogs breed?
I've been told he is a chow mix, but something seems off about that to me. I have a hunch that he is a Finnish Spitz or Eurasian Spitz mix. What do you think?

He appears to have a solid purple tongue. That characteristic is only found in a few breeds- the Chow Chow, some Chinese Shar Pei, and the modern hybrid breed the Eurasier (a mix of Chow Chow, Keeshond, and Samoyed.) Eurasiers are rare in their home country of Germany and nearly unheard of anywhere else- there are probably fewer than 50 in all of North America (and they're owned by responsible people who keep track of their progeny), so the chance that Rambo is one is extremely remote.
I am willing to stake money Rambo is a Chow mix from his pictures- Chow crosses often are slighter-boned and less fluffy than purebreds, which fits him totally.

Rambo looks like a lot of different breeds from the Finnish Spitz, German Spitz, Eurasier, Chow Chow and Finnish Lapphund.
I'd say from seeing his pictures that he is a Finnish Spitz/Eurasier/Chow Chow mix.

Yep, Chow mix, it's in the ears and tail. Chow ears are wide set and the tail is curled. The tongue is a dead give away.
We had Pepper's DNA done and Chow was the last breed I expected, but she is about 1/4 Chow. As a puppy her tail was never curled, but now it's almost always curled. When she's excited it's a tight curl and all her fur stands straight out. She doesn't have any sign of the Chow tongue, nor the shorter square muzzle.
I blame her Chow Chow ancestory for her voice. Chows tend to have a coarse bark. Such a sweet girl, but she has the most ugly, gravely voice! Not lady-like sounding at all.
