What chew toys do you buy your babies?

I used to use rawhide bones now they say not to. My Willow will destroy just about anything she get a hold of. A tennis ball might last an hour. Rope might make it 30 minutes before she has it shredded. I have a few Nylabones and Kongs, but will that be good for the tarter build up? What about knuckle bones? I read about antlers that they can break teeth on dogs who chew like Willow. I need help on what other chew toys I can get.

I would really not recommend rawhide, tennis balls, or ropes, to be brutally honest. Rawhide nowadays is a product of the leather industry, not the food industry, which means it can be made in China with NO restrictions. Chemicals that are very harmful are used with them (such as Lyme!). Not to mention they have little nutritional value and can be harmful if eaten in pieces that are too large. Tennis balls have a felt that can kill your dog if ingested and ropes can cause huge gastronomical problems as well if swallowed. I would recommend Kongs, as well as cow ankle bones (under supervision, they may break). I also do recommend antlers; I work at a pet store and all my customers are incredibly happy with them. Try to find bones that won't break, and it really depends where you shop.
Hope that helps!

Good advice from Minnie. Let me add..bones should not be used as chew toys, but raw meaty bones (rmb) are excellent for keeping teeth pearly white & gums healthy. My 8 yr old has NEVER had a dental & had only 2 tartar spots on his last check-up.
Elk antlers are great..if Willow does not like the whole ones, try the split ones.
Other chew toys: Tuffy brand..several sizes & tuffness. Kong wubba. Jolly Balls/Eggs. In destructible Snake. And a line of toys made from recycled tires..can't remember the name. Their treat ball lasted over 6 years..(i lost it, the ball was still fine. bol).

I have always used the nylabones for my dogs. I have one that has lasted through 4 puppies and is still going strong. I am not a fan of rawhides at all. I have had to reach into a dogs mouth when when one piece got stuck and they could not breath.

Paragon dog chews. The hedgehog ones in particular are a good size and last a good while. They are safe to eat. Other chews, like Rawhide, would give Wookiee Diarhea. I'm thankful to have found these chews. Good luck!
