What can I use on an 8 week old puppy with fleas?
- This question is closed.
The least expencive thing to use is dish soap. It works to kill the fleas and causes no problems to you dogs. We use it all the time on young puppies. Hope I helped!:)

You can use Revolution, but I think it's half a vile. Talk to your Vet to be sure, he'll perscribe th correct dose.

Revolution is only one of many flea treatments. Best thing is to talk to your vet about what would be best for your puppy. If you have had it long, you may need to treat your house with something too.

Dish soap isn't the best choice for puppies or dogs, in my opinion.
Dogs have a much different pH balance and acidity to their skin than we do and dish soap, though mild for us, can be extremely irritating to dogs' skin, especially puppies.
Also, it's the act of washing that kills the fleas, so any soap and water combo will do, it's not the actual dish washing liquid itself that kills the fleas. So using a puppy shampoo is much more effective and safe.
However, an eight week old puppy should probably not be washed, especially in winter. It's very easy for puppies to get hypothermia and so washing them isn't recommended until they are at least 12 weeks old, or older.
I would discuss the fleas with a vet and see if they have some puppy safe solutions.
Good luck with your new puppy!

Jet uses Revolution. You can also use K-9 Advantix, etc. It might be half a vile. I don't know. Talk to your vet about it. Jet had a few fleas at about 8 or 9 weeks, and his vet started him on flea/tick preventitive.

Using any flea medicine on an 8 week old dog is a big no no. You should never put chemicals on a puppy that young. Dawn dish detergent is fine to use on animals even puppys. Yes it can irritate their skin but only if you use it too often, which anything will irritate skin if used too often. Jack im sorry but the act of washing a dog with any soap and water will not kill fleas, if that were the case we wouldnt even use flea shampoos. All though your not the first person ive heard that from. Its just not true though. Yes it will kill some but not all. Another good shampoo to use on puppys or any dog or cat is Royal Chrysanthemum. Its all natural and kills fleas
