Um, a Siberian husky IS a breed, not a mixed breed. I suppose an alaskan husky might be a mix between an alaskan malamute and a siberian husky, but I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about.

It depends... Alaskan Husky is a type of dog bred for its working ability and any particular Alaskan Husky's mix can be different from another... mostly the northern breeds though such as Siberians, Malamutes etc. You might want to ask this in the "Choosing the Right Dog" section of the Forums, you might get a response from some people who own actual sled dogs and probably have more knowledge on the Alaskan Husky.

They are not so much a breed as much as they are a type of dog. They can be any number of breeds. The original breed was a native (to northern North America) spitz type dog. Then other breeds were mixed in to increase speed, stamina, and other desirable qualities that a working dog might need. Other breeds can include, but aren't limited to; Eskimo dog, Grey Hound, Siberian Husky, other hound type dogs, gun dogs, and German Shorthair Pointers. Any mushers out there will be able to give you better, more detailed info!

Alaskan husky is not a mixed breed, it is a purebred. If you are talking about it's ancestors, they are wolves. At least, that is all that we know of.

Mainly hounds are the common breeds in an Alaskan Husky but could also be a number of different breeds and no Alaskan huskies are not purebred dogs. Siberian huskies are the only purebred husky.
