She is around 8 years old and we found her. We don't know what breed she is and the vet didn't know.
she looks like a lab but she might be a mix. How can we find out what breed she is or what breeds she has in her ?
Thanks

I agree with Grady...Coonhound for sure! But don't rule out the DNA testing...Mommie did one on me and discovered I had a skeleton in my closet and I'm not pure bred Chi after alll!
Knowing will also help you understand her behaviors, so It's always good to know for sure.

I'm no breed expert, but what hit me foremost when I first laid eyes on her is coonhound. If so, she is obviously not pure coonhound. Her ears are way too small and her jowls don't hang enough. It's possible she has lab in her, but I doubt it. Labs are considerably more meaty. Also, their eyes tend to be darker, I think, I'm not unswayable on that note, though. I agree with Abby about the possibility of doberman being in the mix, however. That looks like a very good possibility. There could even be some foxhound there, too. It is especially hard to tell, as Abby also pointed out, without different viewpoints of the whole dog. Post some full length pictures showing views of the head shape - front and side, tail, paws, and a standing profile - showing legs (esp. thickness and length), back curvature, lung capacity, waist thickness, etc.; and from different angles for better answers to your question.

There are DNA tests that you can purchase that claim to be able to tell you what breeds are part of a dog's genetic makeup. Most geneticists feel that these are highly inaccurate and a waste of money, so I would recommend you save your money.

Most unknown mixed breeds are guessed - ideally by someone who is experienced with many different types of breeds and can evaluate their coloring, body structure, size, etc. to see which traits may have been inherited from which breed. This is often easily possible if the dog is a mix of no more than 2 breeds (mom one breed, dad another). When there are several breeds in the mix, it gets to be a guessing game.

Do you have a photo of her standing, like a sideways photo (like what you see of show dogs)? This helps evaluate structure.

Based on the couple of head shots on your profile (which is NOT what it should be solely based on), I would say Labrador / Doberman.
