Vomiting water repeatedly?

I've never seen Desmond do this before. He's vomiting randomly but frequently, but there is no solid food or bile in his vomit. It is just clear water. I think he's thrown up about 6 or 7 times, it's not a huge amount or anything, and he doesn't seem in any discomfort.
Though earlier after throwing up once or twice, he was coughing/gagging and breathing a little funny, like he had something in his throat. I encouraged him to drink some water and rubbed his throat some, and he has not acted this way since. He does not gag before he throws up, it just comes out. He is not acting lethargic at all, and happily ate a big ol' edible Nylabone earlier. He's still playing and acting very normal.

What is causing him to throw up so much? Anything I can do? It doesn't seem very serious, but still.

I would just make sure he stays hydrated though tomorrow and if he is still doing it in the morning then i would take him to the vet.

I don't like any of the consumable chews. A dog can bolt down what is left of one and have trouble. I agree, the vet in the morning if he is still doing it.

Throwing up water is pretty normal if a dog drinks too much too fast -

But I'm concerned about him having "eaten" a nylabone.

The consumable chew bones can cause all kinds of blockages in the throat, and intestines. Don't give him these , raw hide, greenies or similar chews.

I'm not a fan of edible toys like nylabones or greenies, either.

I think they simply aren't really truly edible and often cause awful problems.

Now if I understand correctly, though, you saw him vomit and retch BEFORE he ate the nylabone.

If he was starting in on it before he vomited, It's possible he got a piece stuck in his throat (not enough to keep him from breathing, just maybe in the esophagus or the back of the throat where it was irritating. I think sometimes things like that can scratch the throat or the tongue and if it's far enough back it can cause a gag reflex, hence the vomiting up of water or saliva.

It could also just be that Desmond coughed up some water, which is fairly common. Dogs drink fast and because of their anatomy, it's easy for them to gag and vomit. It happens particularly if dogs are active and playing or take big, fast gulps of water.

BUT most of the time when this happens it happens once or twice, not seven. If it continues see the vet.
