Some dog breed suggestions for agility?

Yup...I am looking for an agility dog. I am going to get one as a puppy, and would really appreciate some breed suggestions from some agility handlers.

This will be the first puppy I'm raising and also my first agility dog. Please no "rescue/adopt" suggestions--I'm all for it, beleive me, I'm just looking for a purebred puppy that I will raise for an agility companion. I'm putting a lot of thought and effort into this, so any suggestions would be grrrreatly appreciated!

:)

Herding breeds often excell in agility, both because of their energy level, reputation for being quick learners (most herding breeds, anyway), and need for mental exercise. Border Collies seem to be the most common dogs used in Agility. But you need to pick a breed that fits you, first and foremost.
And of course Agility is not just limited to herding breeds--just about any healthy dog that loves the sport can learn it. I've seen Huskies, Chihuahuas, Jack Russells, Dobermans, mixed breeds, etc do Agility.

A good breeder knows their puppies well, and will be able to help you pick out the pup best suited for Agility and you.

German Shorthaired Pointers and they will LOVE IT!!! There is a group on Yahoo that is breed specific and devoted to agility trials. Maybe you can join it to find out more about the breed and the sport.
here you go, for a start look at this site:

Ok to be honest, any dog breed can do agility, and it doesn't matter what breed either. Somtime's Agility skills are passed down through genorations, so getting a purebread is a good idea. Also getting a it as a puppy is a good idea to so you can start earlie and have plenty of time to practise. But remember you should wait until it's a year old so all it's bone's are developed and the puppie isn't injured. And like I said, all dog breed's can do agility so it's up to you what breed you want.
