Lila

Siberian Husky that eats EVERYTHING.

My 7 month old Siberian Husky will eat ANYTHING. She has eaten tissues, flowers, grass, wood blocks, wood from outdoors, bugs, chew and eats the end of the carpet, paper, ANYTHING! Should I be concerned? She throws up occassionaly after eating grass. We put her in her crate if we see her eating things she shouldn't be but its hard to stop her when she's running in the fenced in yard. Help?

Some dogs do this, they'll eat anything in site. However, Lila is probably bored. A lot of dogs eat and chew on things when they are bored. Buy her some appropriate toys for her to chew on. Buy her a Kong. It is a toy you stuff food into (I freeze it) then give it to your dog. The Kong will keep your dog entertained for hours.

Dogs eat grass because they are not getting enough protein and nutritions.

A lot of puppies will chew for the heck of it.

Exercise your dog. This is one of the reasons she is probably eating and chewing on everything. Huskies need a lot of exercise, so a long, daily walk and about 45 minutes of fetch, swimming, agility, etc., would be great for Lila.

Do not exercise Lila in extremely hot weather.

Sounds like a normal puppy. But yes you have to be concerned. You have to puppy proof your house just like you have to baby proof your home. Always try to get the puppy interested in other things like toys when they start chewing other things. It does get better in time. I do wish you the best.

Many puppies will eat anything, especially when bored. Mine does! The best ways to prevent this, are training (give her toys that are ok, and tell her "no" when she eats something that is not ok); exercise (will tire her out and help her not to be so bored); and if these don't work, use some kind of spray, or scent on the items that she eats a lot (bitter apple spray, or cayanne pepper)- My puppy likes to eat the wall- so I spray it to keep her from doing so. Like others said, you need to puppy proof the yard and house too- make sure things are not readily available for her to eat.
