Shiba or Basenji

I've researched both breeds for several months but don't know which to choose. They are very similar. I am adopting from a breed rescue group. I know both breeds are challenging and I'm ready to take one on.

I don't know much about Shiba's, but from what I know on Basenji's they don't bark!! I don't know why. They can bark, but just don't. They are probably less grooming too with the short fur. The one that I know is very friendly and likes to play, go on walks, etc., but can also be quite mellow and is well behaved. The owners have owned several Basenji's and never had one that barked. :)
