Re (2): I have a question for Aster

Link to Wood Haven Labs. Which as well all know is an excellent site. Gives great food for thought. (She's a supporter of meat-based foods, too.) I agree with the author on many things, including that meat by-products are not bad. They shouldn't be the main ingredient though.
The "Dog Foods - Or what in the world should I buy?"--excellent artile. While I don't agree with everything in it, it supports the main point of my posts--people need to read into things for themselves.

There's that study done on dog food again fed to minks. Why in the world did they not do the study on dogs? Not like they're hard to come by.

"Therefore, meat-only diets, particularly those which must be supplemented with excessive amounts of vitamins and minerals are not recommended since they often do not provide the critical balance of nutrients required."

Whoever said anything about feeding an all meat diet? In fact, when feeding a homeprepared diet, you feed mostly meat with organs, bones, and sometimes vegetables added. But a 100% meat diet? No way in tarnation.

"I also think the burden of proof is on you. "
Fair enough. Thank you for finally complying with my request yourself.

I do hope you give all my links a read. Many of them are very similar to the links you gave. I read all yours. I still can't say that I agree with you--in fact, I still disagree with about 95% of what you post, but at least we understand each other a little better now.
I've been locking horns with you for quite a while now. I'm still disagreeing with you and will continue to do so unless I see fit to do otherwise, but I'm not going to wait around picking your posts apart anymore. It was wearing down my nerves. I'm just going to tell people to look at both sides, use their heads--you know my usual advice--and leave it at that.
Fact is, while I do believe in reading and considering ALL sides, I do tend to be more wary and skeptical of government-controlled sources. They've made several decisions which have made me think twice about trusting them. I'll tell you if you ask, but I've had posts completely deleted before just for bringing it up, so I'll not speak of it in this post.
Logically, why should the government-controlled organizations be any more trust-worthy than anyone else? They are just as capable of lying as Joe from across the street, and they are certainly not incapable of making mistakes.
But you've made it plain that you're just the opposite, so I guess there's no point to trying to give you sources that are not from the government.

So why have I been opposing you so strongly? Well, several reasons. The way you treated me in PMs and refused to respond to requests for resources in the past, mainly.

Well, sorry to have rambled. Anyway, last but not least, I ordered several books on canine nutrition off of Amazon.com the other night, so I'm going to be learning even more.

Aster's answers and info are extremely credible. I'm going to take my dog off of a raw diet immediately, WHICH 1. Eliminated all ear infections. 2. Eliminated skin dryness and rashes 3. Stopped Rocket Butt symptoms. 4. Eliminated vet bills. 5. Provided a nice shiney coat (and the list goes on and on and on). I think I'll switch to a cheap supermarket brand of dog food containing corn, kidney killing ingredients, ground up dogs and cats, cancer causing ingredients, used motor oil, etc. This looks like a much better choice to me!

Thanks for the links.
I shall read those.
I am wondering something, does Purina and other companies allow tours?
I think that would be good to do, to actually see the inside of the factory and see how the dogfood is processed. Maybe that would change my mind from buying, not sure. But, an interesting question. Maybe I will email them. :)

thanks again, Dieta

Aster

This discussion is over. Likely this isn't the place for it. Frankly I hate having my time wasted by those unable to tell the difference between dogfoodanalysis and reliable information.

BOL Pip.
Aster, any reliable information we try to show you, you disregard it. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that dogs ARE carnivores, and have NO natural need for carbohydrates in order to obtain glucose. (See "gluconeogenesis".) Ergo, feeding them a diet of nothing but species-inappropriate carbohydrates is wrong. It's a cheap and mythical approach to canine nutrition.

Yes Perinea does do tours! My friend in 8th grade went and she said it was so disgusting. That the tour guide guy pulled out bins of "freshly brought in meat" and she could see chicken feet and beaks in it, she remembers there being a lot of "weird stuff" and the guy said this was very good for dogs. She talked about other stuff too. Although, beaks and feet don't hurt dogs, they get no nutrition from them, so it helps cut the costs I guess...
