Puppy in an Apartment.
I just got an 8 week pom and she's been great so far. But I have 2 questions.
#1 Is it better for her to poop and pee on her pee pad area in her enclosure, or to have her poop and pee on the balcony? We have an apartment that doesn’t allow pets, so we can’t walk her outside, and I work during the day so she needs to pee in her enclosure sometimes, but should that be her place ALL the time, or should I make 2 pee locations (when I’m home and when I’m not). I have a crate and connected to the crate I have an outdoor fence that I've made into a living room for him with an area for the pee pad.
#2 which is preferable? To have her spend the day with my gf’s mom Monday-Friday (like a day care) and come back house in the evenings, or have her at my house for 10+ hours without supervision. I’m trying to balance two non-ideal situations, one where she’s going to be lonely vs having 2 homes.
EDIT: Fair enough response. The puppy is my gf's. I'm just training it right now.

I think Option #2, at your girlfriend's mom's house is the best option.... whether the dog is being pad trained or not, leaving an 8 week old puppy alone for 10+ hours a day is not going to work out so well... the puppy needs TONS of good positive socialization with other people and (after she has all her boosters) with other dogs to help make sure she grows up to be friendly and sociable -- being in the apartment like that isn't going to do her (or you, or your gf) any favors. As for potty spot for when she IS at your apartment, that's really your preference... as long as you are consistent and make it a positive experience she'll learn to go wherever you want her to. Much luck.

Hi. I hate to be the bearer of bad news and not so nice comments but...
why did you get a puppy if you knew, first of all, that your apartment doesn't allow it and you wouldn't be able to walk her, and secondly, if there was a possibly she would be left alone for 10+ hours a day. I understand how cute puppies can be and the urge to buy one can be great, but you should have given it a little more thought.
You can make her pee where ever it is most convenient for you.
If you are unable to take her out for walks I would send her to your gf's mom. That way she can get some exercise hopefully and get some socialization.
It may seem like a rude question but ...
WHY DID YOU GET A PUPPY???

Either location would be fine to potty in.
I'd recommend having her at your gf's house during the day. A dog needs companionship.

Well if you have your gf's mother watch the dog for the day then you wont have to worry about 2 different pee areas. and you can focus on just 1 training spot. and a puppy as young as her, it is crusial for her to get #1 suppervision..the get into everything and eat everything. and #2 social needs are important. you dont want a dog that is anti social because it is alone for 10+ hrs aday. If she is willing to do it take her up on it!!! good luck

You should take her with you to the #2 location and have access to her to take her outside to potty.
I think you should not live in the apartment as they do not allow dogs. Dogs have to be able to go outside when ever they please. It is not good to home them constantly with no access to the natural environment.
I would find a place to live that does allow animals. If it is the apartments policy they can come in and remove the dog personally. They can have the animal control come in and take the dog as that is their property, you only rent the living space. good luck to you.
ps. it will only be a matter of time before someone will tell on you when they know the pup is there, just a fact of life.
