Pet Racism?

Is being anti "mutt" (not a purebred or pedigree) the equivalent of "pet racism"? By purebred standards aren’t we all in the "mutt" classification. Don't all pets, like all humans, deserve love and acceptance?

Just think about it...

Absolutely.

I often think that same thing.

People can take the purebred thing waaaay too seriously.

A dog is a dog.

And, dogs are the greatest things on this planet.

I think there are a lot of people out there who just take everything way too seriously and then feel the need to label it something like "pet racism" or some such nonsense.

People are allowed to like or not like certain breeds or certain types of dogs. That is their business. If someone says, "I don't like mutts!" that's fine, just move on. You don't have to socialize with those people or *make* them like your dog, and you don't need to "label" them "pet racists" just because they don't like that breed.

I get lots of stupid stupid stupid comments from people about my German Shepherd. So what. People don't have to like my dog and I don't have to force my dog on them. Just move on.

However, I think people should damn well speak up when it comes to intentionally breeding "mutts" and labelling them as "designer dogs", implying that they're rare and the next best thing because they're neither. They're the same as the millions of other dogs PTS at shelters in the US every year.

ya know I do not get this whole thing anyway due to the fact -- from what I have researched that there are only a few TRUE pruebreeds out there -- like the greyhound -- it is a true breed of dog there is nothing that has ever been mated with another breed to achieve this dog -- also I believe the maltese is a pure breed and the african besenji and a few others-- so I feel that that all are a form of a MUTT due to the fact that a lot of dogs make up the genetic pool to achieve that KIND of breed which the AKC will acknolwedge -- so to I agree with the comment that most all breeds are "MUTTS" and yes all deserve a love
