Halo

here is how I do it with my wolfdogs, can't afford that kind of jaw strength ever biting humans, even in play. Make the dog sit (should know this command by 4 months old. Place one hand gently on the dog's back at the base of the neck, pet the dog's face with the other. If the dog places its teeth on your hand, GENTLY scruff the dog and say "no bite" then, when the dog licks say "Lick" and praise lavishly. Do it for 2-4 minutes at a time. It will be a lot of fast "No bite, Lick, good job." for a while but in a week or two he should catch on that biting humans is never acceptable and licking humans is the appropriate alternative.

I would prompt the dog (No bite!) and replace my fingers with a toy. Once he chews the toy, give lots of praise. Then every time you find him chewing a toy instead of something inappropriate, give lots and lots of praise. After a time, chewing a toy will become associated with the satisfaction of teething plus your praise or rewards.

Hello! When I was younger I had a mixed mutt named Daisy who grew up to be the most loya dog you could ask for. In the teething stages my Dad would let her bite his hand until her teeth actually came out. Now, we got a new puppy and since this was too painful for me to handle, I just stuck my hand in a thick slipper (or anything else) and let her bite away. Of course she eventually stopped biting my hand after her adult teeth grew in, but this was a painless solution to her teething problem.
