my dog was laying on the floor next to my duaghters shoes,my duaghter went to pick shoes and the dog bit her finger.why?

I'm not sure why the dog bit my daughter. We said NO and immeditely put her in the kennel. This was a first. Later that afternoon, the dog was laying on my lap and my son came to give me something, my dog snapped at my son and almost bit him. We immediately put her in the kennel for a few minutes and said NO. I need help in what should we do. My dog is a Yorky/Bishon, 11 months. sweet, playful dog. Can someone please give me advice on what we should do about her snapping and bitting? Thank you

Your dog is resource guarding, first with the shoe and then you.

Here are a few things that might help:

www.dogstardaily.com

www.diamondsintheruff.com

Also the book "MINE" by Jean Donaldson is quite helpful

Good luck with your pup!
