No, you can't. That can make things worse.

You need to take him to the vet right now and get him treated for this. A sock in a dog this size is extremely dangerous and giving him ipecac can kill him.

More than likely, they gave him a small dose of morophine which relaxes the stomach and esophageal muscles. This also makes the dog very nauseous and the combination means the object comes up easier and faster. He needs to go to the vet because if it doesn't come up or comes up in a way that blocks his airway, then he needs to be in a setting where he can be treated.

I would make sure all clothing is locked away from him or in a place he can't reach. Leaving the socks in a place that he can get to is just going to continue this problem and you'll end up spending a lot more, or worse. You won't have to spend any more on him ever again, if you get my drift.

Please make sure he can't get a hold of socks from now on. It's extremely dangerous. Good luck, I hope he's better soon.

Oh No!! Get him to the vet right away. If the foreign object he swallowed gets out of the stomach into the intestines he will need surgery to remove it. It can cause a blockage or even worse the intestine may end up folding inside itself which will cause blood loss and death to the area involved and that's a medical emergency. An office visit is a lot cheaper in the long run.
