MARKING AND BARKING!

Please help my 3yr old pomeranian (benji)does NOT stop barking at EVERYTHING, he barks when i leave the house, when i enter the house, when a car goes by etc. He barks extensively at strangers and children too. I also have a Border terrier (milo, 2yrs) and since i got him they both mark in the house. i dont catch them in the act and i dont know what to do! they are not neutered because i was scared it would change them but at 3yrs old is it too late??

I am 3months pregnant and dont know wat to do. I love them with all my heart and could never rehome them so would love your advice :)

It's not too late to neuter them- it won't STOP the marking problem, since the habit is ingrained now, but it will lessen it. Neutering does not change a dog's basic personality.

You need to confine them when you can't supervise them- are they crate trained? The point of using a crate for housetraining is that it is too small for them to pee in without getting it on themselves (which most dogs don't like.) You can find a lot of videos, articles, and books about crate training if you look. Crating will also help the barking problem.

Also, do you walk them? Do they have any obedience training? The point of training, more than teaching the dog silly tricks, is to build your relationship and teach them how to behave in the outside world.

I don't have enough space to say everything I want to- BUT... you dogs need more exercise and training, pronto. Before the baby arrives because you'll have enough to deal with.
