Jus got a 2 yr old dog, her name is pursey. Would it be unwise to rename her?

I don't believe so, especially if she's a rescue from a bad living situation. Maybe chose a name and hyphenate it for a while, then slide in to the new name. For example: Pursey-belle, come here and get this fabulous treat, Pursey-belle.Then, ...after a few day...Belle, come get this barbecue Porterhouse steak, Belle...
Just an opinion. You wouldn't believe all the nicknames our dog has, and he ignores every single one, including his real name.
