Is it safe to use Ativan or other antianxiety drug for my Insulinoma dog?

My 12.5 year old 28LB. dog has recently been diagnosed with insulinoma. He panics in the car & is a total wreck by the time we reach the vet clinic. I can't take him anywhere. The stress is very bad for him because of the insulinoma. It causes him to be hypoglycemic which can lead to a seizure. Would it be okay to give him Ativan prior to car trip?

Please see the Vet for the proper medications for a dog who is both elderly and has medical problems

No ativan and its generics are barely safe for humans. Its side effects and long term effects are horrible. See your vet about alternatives. There are some anti anxiety meds out there for dogs. You also might want to consider socializing him to cars slowly.
