Introducing a new puppy to our 6 year old lab in the house.

In one week, I will be bringing home my new American Cocker Spaniel Puppy. I am looking for suggestions for the best way to introduce our 6 year old lab to the new puppy. Our lab is a hunter and can be aggressive with rabbits, squirrels and other small prey. Although clearly my husband's dog, she has been absorbing a lot of attention from me after the loss of her buddy and my precious Boxer. Any suggestion on how to make this introduction successful? For the first weekend my husband is taking our lab up north so I can have a quiet weekend for the puppy to explore before and get used to her new environment. Thank you for your suggestions.
