depends on the weight of the dog. Sometimes the bag of dog food you buy will show a guide as to how much to feed your dog. for instance my dog is 70 pounds. he gets a half a cup in the morning and a half a cup at night. It would be a different measure for a smaller dog.

Carter is forgetting something...

Young pups (like human babies) need to eat much more frequently than adult dogs. I would feed at least three times a day. (breakfast, lunch, dinner.)

Easiest, safest thing to feed your pup is a commercial dry dog food formulated for puppies. It will have a chart with age and weight on the back to determine the right amount to feed. Canned food or frozen/refrigerated dog food is also an option, but that gets expensive if your pup is going to be a big dog, and it can make a picky eater who won't eat dry food later on.

Feeding your pup a homemade diet is not recommended without a lot more research. You can't just throw her table scraps or whatever she likes, it's not balanced and that can cause serious problems in a growing pup.

Did you ask the person who owned the mother what the pups were used to eating?

A puppy that young will need to be fed 3-4 times per day. You may need to moisten the food as well. Feed a high quality puppy food. Some good ones are Wellness, EVO, Blue Buffalo, Taste of the Wild (they have a new line of puppy foods), and other. Be sure and read the label before buying a puppy food. Ingredients such as corn, wheat, soy, unnamed meat products, meat by-products, animal digest, and menadione bisulfate are bad ingredients which indicate that the food is not good quality.

There should be a chart on the bag/can stating how much to feed your puppy. It should tell you how much to feed based on weight and age.
