I have a maltese that I got from a lady she just dropped her off at my work. Is there any way to tell how old she is?

I know she isn't a puppy

Not for sure, but vets can take a guess based on the condition of the teeth and of the dog's body.

Dieta

Your vet might be able to examine and guess approx. by the condition how old she is .
I had to guess with our new rescue, didn't want to do to much training without knowing approx age.
