I have a 9 yr old mini schnauzer and he is urinating all over my house,

I have used the "Woodhouse way" with my past 4 dogs and never had a problem like this before, but with this dog I have had limited success for short periods, I am semiretired and home all day with this dog, he is let out often, but will still go into any room with an open door and soil the room. I am so frustrated that this dog, who minds me in every other way, will not stop doing this. What do you suggest? This is a 9 yr old neutered male,in good health, not overweight. He has been doing this for the past 4 years ever since my father-in-laws dogs came and soiled the room. We have cleaned the carpet, sprayed, and even put down another rug. Nothing works. Now we use gates, but if he can get into ANY room in the house he will go, not just the living room. I tried to retrain using the cage method, only allowing the dog out for short periods, only in my presence, then back to the cage, allowing more and more time out. This works for awhile and then if I have to leave the room he will pee

Sounds a lot like urinary incontinence. I'd suggest a vet trip.
My GSD has this problem. To control it, after seeing the vet, I began using a prescribed medication called Proin (I think it is available OTC, too), and I've since found that adding Brewer's Yeast with Garlic (dosage on container) seems to help, too.

Sounds like he needs a Pee Belt. They are soft, bands lined with a sanitary napkin. In most cases, as long as the dog is wearing them they won't even try to mark, but, if they do, it is contained in the belt.

To me this sounds like a territory problem. When your father in law brought over his dogs, your dog felt like they were invading his territory. So now is making sure that it wont happen again. I would suggest asking your father in law to keep his canines at home the next time. And is your dog fixed? This could aslo be contributing to the problem. I know that this may sound funny, but I had a cat that did the same thing, but when we got him nuetered he immidietly stopped!

I would get a vet check up to make sure he doesn't have any crystals or anything like that. I would clean with Natures Miracle very thoroughly and try re training like you did with a crate and when he is not in the crate try putting him on a leash and attach the leash to your belt buckle. When that is not an option you can try the belly belt with disposable inserts. This helps with peeing but not pooping. Be patient and most importantly be consistent. Put him on a feeding schedule too!

How about the male belly band ? When this kid is in the house use the male wrap and a maxi pad.
I buy the pads for humans and place that into the mail wrap: see here for more help:
