How to stop my puppy from screaming when alone? Help needed!

I have a 10 week old border terrier who cries and screams non stop in her crate and whenever she is alone. I work full time but my neighbour is goin to come and let her out at lunch time each day. I'm worried that I'll have complaints from the other neighbours soon as she is so loud.

What should I do? I want to do what's right for her - should I give her back to the breeder?

Thank for any help or words of wisdom x

What works for us at night, might work for you in the day time. I have never had much luck with the old clock or radio tricks. What I do is lay down by the crate like I was going to sleep there. Usually a puppy may fuss a little, but then settle down and go to sleep. Once it is asleep, you can get up and go to bed.

I have heard that if you stuff some toy or pillow with little alarm clock but you know the traditional which is actually ticking. she will calm down as she will hear it as a heartbeat which will remind her of her "family". she may actually fall asleep . try it .
Good luck

Make sure your puppy has plenty of exercise. Make the crate a happy place, not a prison. A Kong stuffed with frozen goodies, toys etc. Enlist your neighbors to help you with the puppy; if they know the noise is being worked on and will stop in the future, they may be more understanding. When you are at home, keep your puppy with you. Puppies need company to be happy, play with her, work on house braking, and exercise her …… so that when it is time to go to bed, she will be tired and ready to sleep.

How long have you had your puppy? It will take more then a day or two for her to become comfortable in her new home.

Talking to the breeding and getting advice on handling your problems is a good idea too.

These dogs (terriers) were bred for WORK, they will probably not be happy without work. Most terriers were hunter of vermin and some are/were herders. They were not bred to be lap dogs (or confined). It is not in her to just lie around doing nothing all day. Terriers are dogs that need a very high level of activity/interaction with SOMETHING, human, dog or animal.
With their cuteness and smallness it's hard to remember, these guys were bred to be fierce and fearless hunters and herders. As the old saying goes, breeding will out.
A variety of toys, including a preloaded second kong type toy for your friend to toss in the kennel after his/her visit mught help, another pup (believe it or not) might be helpful, if that is an option. A pup with a mellow personality from a more mellow breed.
