how to stop destructive chewing

We recently adopted a 17 month old husky. He has rather severe separation anxiety which has led to destructive chewing. My husband and I have been working proactively to alleviate the anxiety. The dog is walked or goes jogging every morning; he has lots of chew toys including a Kong and Nylabone; he gets a healthy breakfast; and he's been prescribed Clomipramine (anti-anxiety) by his vet. We have tried crate training him, but he panicked and we were afraid he would hurt himself.

While his anxiety seems to have lessened, he will not stop chewing our sofa. He has completely destroyed one and has started on a second. No Chew spray doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have any ideas that we haven't tried? We're completely out of ideas. (Daycare is not financially viable right now.)

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

How about a confining him, but in a bigger space than a crate so he doesn't freak out and can't reach the sofa to chew it.

You could barricade him into a kitchen, bathroom, etc. with baby gates or just closed doors. OR, if you have the space, get a chainlink panel outdoor kennel, but set it up in your garage or spare room instead of outside. It would be quite cozy if you put a bed and a stuffed Kong in there with him.
