Just stop in to talk to them with your mom or dad. I think it is very cool. And you will be helping so many dogs to have some freedom til they get adopted.
thanks:) good luck:)

Find some nearby shelters you are interested in, look and see if they have websites, if so, look at the site and see if it has anything about volunteering. If not, have your parents call or go to the shelter and ask about how old you have to be and what the requirements for volunteers are. All shelters are different, some will take kids of all ages if they have someone, like a parent, with them, some only take ages 18 and up. A shelter I might volunteer at you have to be at least 13 to be a "youth volunteer", if you're a kid you usually get to walk/exercise the dogs, feed them and bathe them. Not everything an adult volunteer would get to do but its still good for the dogs!
I think its great you are so young and want to help out shelter dogs! If the nearby shelters say you're too young right now, you can still help by donating dog/cat food, leashes and collars, litter, toys and other stuff they might need. Good luck!

At our shelter, you have to be 18. But you can do lots of other things to help animals and your shelter that don't involve working directly with the animals if your shelter has a similar age limit.
You can have a donation drive for food, blankets, towels, toys, money, etc. You can organize a car wash (or dog wash!) to help raise money. You can help raise awareness at your school by doing reports or getting the shelter to visit and talk about animal care and cruelty. You can talk to people about how important it is to get your pets spayed or neutered, how they shouldn't buy pets from stores, puppy mills or backyard breeders.
Just because you might not be old enough to actually volunteer doesn't mean you aren't old enough to help.

I am your age and I volunteer at my local shelter! Just call and ask them. Most likely the Humane Society will not let you, because i think you have to be at least 18. The local animal shelters are the ones most likely you will be able to get in.

Almost all of our local shelters accept volunteers your age - you just have to be supervised by an adult (another shelter volunteer, it doesn't have to be your parent).
I have seen people your age at the shelter bathing, feeding, and exercising the animals, or just playing with them.
It really depends on the individual shelter, so call them and ask or stop by with your parents. Your parents will probably have to sign permission forms so you can volunteer, but hopefully you can find at least one place that you can go to.

You need experiance with animals first.
Make sure you can reconize when an aniaml is in pain, giving off aggresive gestures and other signs. It's important you know them.
12 is probably the mimimum age to work voluntarily.
Feel free to ask any more questions.
