MISS LIBERTY

how do Cut my dogs toenails without loosing my fingers.

My poodle mix gets very aggressive and will attack your hand and make you bleed when you try to cut her toenails. I've had her since she was a puppy and now she's 2 years old. I've always had this problem with her. We have to take her to the groomers to have it done. Should I muzzel her or is there something else I can do.

she is now an adult but you can try to desensitizing her.
That would be teaching her obedience commands like lay down. Use food, then work this into the nail issue.
But, just lay the clippers down near her so she sees them(feed). Do this a few days. Then keep moving the object closer, then after a few days touch her with the cutters, then lay them down gently. Feed, feed. Hopefully you can keep doing this til you actually cut one nail. But, try being calm and feed. Praise lavishly if you get any positive reactions.
I would try this before making it a force thing.
My old dog didn't bite but such a wiggle butt. Don't give up.

If she doesn't like the clippers you might want to try the peticure, which you can purchase at any pet store.
I had to switch over from clippers to the peticure for my Staffie and haven't had a problem since.

Well I know my groomer always says if my dogs nails need cutting between visits just bring them by. It only takes her a few minutes. Cost $5. or so. Mine does not even charge me. Most won't . And it saves your fingers. If you can't do that get a muzzle. But don't let your dog bite you!

Mini

A family member of mine has a dog who's agressive when he gets his nails clipped.. but what their Vet said to do was clip only one nail per day. Then they get used to seeing/feeling the clippers and eventually lose their fear of them.
Good luck!
