Help! Unknown severe skin irritation!

I just brought home a 4-year old beagle about two hours ago, and upon closer inspection of what was stated as "dry skin" is far more severe that I first thought. She is bright red, and has lost all of her hair on the underside of her tail, and is starting to lose hair on her rump. Her stomach appears red as well, with red dots. There is also a decent sized, hard, unmovable bump beneath the skin on he tail. I'm fearing the worst... cancer, but I'm really hoping that maybe someone might have a better alternative.
I have to wait until my next pay check, and I'll be rushing her to my vet. I'd just like to know what I may have gotten myself into, and if I should be worried about my 6-month old dog to catch it(I origonally got the new dog as a companion and aid for my puppy, as she is deaf).

I'm so very worried... :c

I'm having some trouble with your pictures, but it sounds really bad. The lump on her tail (a cyst or tumor?) is probably unrelated to the other skin condition though. It sounds more like an allergic reaction, or a parasite infection, both of which are treatable. In the case that it's parasites (I'm thinkin' sarcoptic mange AKA scabies) keep her away from your other dog and don't let them share bedding.

Either way you will probably be in for medicated shampoo, special diet, topical insecticide, probably antibiotics/antifungals for secondary skin infection, and who knows what the vet will say about the tail lump. So if you're not really attached to her yet, I might take her back to whoever you got her from, since she was obviously misrepresented. It would nice if you can help her, but not everyone needs to be a hero, especially if they can't afford the vet bills.
