Hayfever?

Sniff sniff I think I may have hayfever, not too bad but my little eyes get watery and I get the sneezes. I seem to get it the same days as my adopted dad gets it. I'm ok in myself it's not affecting me in any other way-still barking, running around, stealing socks, eating and drinking ok. is this normal and what can I get my mum to do about it? Or is it ok to just leave it?
hope you can help xxx

If it is real bothersome the vet can give you something. My schnauzer Jack's eyes has been getting all this goop in them and the vet gave him some ointment that has helped.

It's unusual for dogs to have hayfever, but it's definitely possible.

I'd make sure to get a thoroguh check up at the vet especially if this is something that started right away and she's never had these symptoms before. What might seem like allergies can be kennel cough.

But if the symptoms are recurrent and she seems to get them only on "dad hayfever" days, then I'd definitely look into the possibiity she has allergies.

Your vet can examine her easily and determine if she has allergies. Sometimes just looking at the insides of her nostrils and inside the lower eyelid (please do NOT under any circumstances try this at home) can show the vet redness or tiny bumps which indiciate seasonal allergies.

Once a definitive diagnosis is made, you can take if from there and decide if you want to get a prescription from your vet to treat her on the days she is worst.

Ultimately, you might not feel it's necessary but I'd get anything else ruled out just in case.

Good luck!

Since you are not sure that it's hayfever, the safest way to find out is to try homeopathy pills. You can get it at whole foods. Its in a green tube and reads hayfever/allergy. If you ask a worker they're usually very nice and glad to help. You should try it and see if it works. If and when you decide to give her the pills, do not touch them with your hands. Put them directly on a piece of paper and let her sniff it and lick it. It tastes like candy so you should have no problem with her not eating it. Good luck!
