Elderly daschund ate raw, rotten meat and now he's shaking and throwing up...

I'm slightly freaking out. We noticed that our miniature daschund, Buddy, who is 11 years old and pretty much fat was shaking and bloated. It only took us a couple minutes to realize he had gotten in the garbage and eaten two raw, rotten hamburger patties. I've read some stuff online that says I don't have to worry much because dogs are made to eat rotten/raw meat, and that makes sense. But he's acting so sick. He's not walking around or moving unless we force him, and he's shivering like a chihuahua. He just threw up a little bit, too. His stomach is extremely bloated and tight.

The soonest we can see the vet is tomorrow, unless we need to take him to an emergency vet, which we can if we really need to. I just wanted to know if you guys have had this experience before and had any advice.
Thanks

I would at least phone the e-vet and ask them. They will let you know if you should encourage/induce vomiting...or bring him in. If he were my dog (that small & old & fat) I would take him in.
Those symptoms in my large, deep chested dogs would indicate something serious & I would also take them in.
Good luck.

Bloat is an emergency. Good luck.

P.S. It's most certainly true that dogs can eat raw meat safely, but obviously rotten meat is not safe.

I've never dealt with food poisoning myself, but in an attempt to add something that sounds more caring than "good luck", I do hope all goes well.
