Dog acting confused/disoriented?

Most of the time the dog does not show any problems. Once in a while he has trouble going down stairs and jumping up an the bed. This has been going on for years now. My dog is a great dane and is 6 years old. Does anyone have an idea why he goes through this?

Is he confused or simply physically struggling to accomplish the tasks you described? You're talking about an older dog of giant breed with a known propensity for musculoskeletal problems and, because dogs can be really stoic, if he were in pain he might not yelp or bark to show it. If this were my dog, I would get him to the vet.
