Does stress cause a dog to shed more?

My eight year old pound puppy, a lab mix, has just recently started shedding BAD. We have been through a lot of stressful situations recently (her human "daddy" passed away) and I am wondering if this is the cause of it and what I can do.

Yes, stress causes dogs to shed more. If there are no bald patches or skin issues, then I would say stress is definitely the cause of the excess hair loss. I don't think it could be seasonal shedding since we're going into the colder months now.

I'm sorry for your loss, and I hope things get better for you and your dog.
